Business Support – Menstrual Hygiene Manufacturing Firm
Project Overview:
ACTED, in collaboration with UN Women, embarked on a series of initiatives to address period poverty and menstrual hygiene challenges. As part of this effort, ACTED selected an Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprise (MSME) named Roof & Roots to establish a manufacturing facility in Tripoli, Lebanon, dedicated to producing menstrual hygiene products. Salem Group was engaged as a consulting firm to provide coaching sessions to Roof and Roots, with a focus on various critical business topics.
Key Responsibilities:
Salem Group took on the responsibility of conducting coaching sessions for Roof & Roots, concentrating on the following key areas:
1. Business Strategies: Introduced Roof & Roots to essential business strategies, including business plan formats, the business model canvas, and various business models and strategies.
2. Organizational Management: Assisted the MSME in developing a clear vision and mission statement, allocating necessary human resources, and establishing a structured organizational framework.
3. Financial Management: Provided guidance on financial planning, budgeting, and cash management. Assisted in the creation of an operational map for financial procedures.
4. Operational Management: Introduced best accounting practices, financial health, and growth strategies to Roof & Roots. Helped the MSME understand its costs, develop a pricing strategy, manage its stock and facility, and maximize cost efficiency during manufacturing.
5. Sales and Marketing: Supported the MSME in effectively managing sales, identifying communication messages, selecting appropriate promotion platforms, optimizing packaging, enhancing selling techniques, and diversifying its product line.
Outcomes:
The coaching sessions led by Salem Group resulted in several key lessons and positive outcomes for Roof & Roots:
– Improved understanding of critical business planning aspects.
