Economic Development
Project Overview:
Expertise France (EF), under the Economic Development Beirut program, initiated the Shabake Project as part of the localization of aid efforts. The project’s primary objective is to enhance the capacity of Lebanese non-governmental organizations (NGOs), both local and international, to become influential contributors in addressing the consequences of the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon. It also encompasses responding to subsequent crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Beirut Port Explosions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop Training Manual: SG was tasked with creating a comprehensive training manual. This manual is designed to impart knowledge about business management during times of crisis. The information within the manual is intended for transfer to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) operating within the Lebanese context.
2. Conduct Training-of-Trainers: SG organized and carried out a training-of-trainers program focusing on business management during crises. This training aimed to equip selected trainers with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively disseminate the information from the developed training manual.
Outcomes:
The Shabake Project, had two primary outcomes:
1. Development of a Training Manual: SG successfully created a training manual that covers essential aspects of business management during times of crisis. This manual serves as a valuable resource for transferring knowledge and skills to MSMEs operating in Lebanon, enabling them to navigate challenging circumstances effectively.
2. Training-of-Trainers Program: SG conducted a training-of-trainers program, equipping trainers with the expertise required to deliver effective training on business management during crises. These trainers are essential in disseminating the knowledge and skills outlined in the training manual to a wider audience, thereby strengthening the resilience of MSMEs in Lebanon.
